Thanks to newcomers and neighbours who danced together!

Square Dance for HopeSnug Harbour Dance extends warm thanks to Costi and the Toronto Arts Council

Coste residents and neighbours  shared dancing and food with dance leaders Bill Russell and Hashem Al-Saadi, and musical guests in 2018-2019 thanks to a Community Arts Project grant from the Toronto Arts Council. The artists first met at our fun, neighbourly “Square Dance for Hope” held monthly on Roncesvalles Avenue (supporting a locally-driven charity cradlekenya.org.  Young musicians joined us from time to time paid by the Mary Kay Friday Fund of the Country Dance & Song Society. Want to know about future dances? email snugharbourmedia@gmail.com and ask to join our mailing list with our dances and occasional notices about similar events.

“The Women of High Park” – free Toronto community walking tour

Learn about the women who gave life to High Park through the decades with Leader Julia BennettFrom the revitalization of the Park by naturalist volunteers like Jane Schmidt, author of Savannah Plants… to the statue commemorating the Ukrainian poetess who celebrated the freedoms many newcomers seek in Toronto….

From the children whose urban lives were improved in the 1920s because of public health nurses’ outdoor school refuge from a diseased, crowded city… to the Women’s Institute members who fought to preserve decrepit Colborne Lodge 1920s … we will share stories as we walk and a glass of cider at the end. A  salute to the park in the spirit of “International Women’s Day”, led by social history enthusiast Julia Bennett.  Meet at 10:30 Sunday by the green benches south of the Grenadier Restaurant.

Update: due to COVID-19 the Parks biweekly free walking tours are postponed. For calendar, see http://highpark.org.
